A simple daily routine for healthy teeth

Effective cleaning is about consistency and technique, not scrubbing harder.

A simple daily routine for healthy teeth

Two minutes, twice a day

Brush with fluoride toothpaste for about two minutes twice daily, including just before bed. Gently clean the outside, inside and chewing surfaces of all teeth, not only the front ones. A soft-bristled brush with a head that comfortably reaches the different areas of your mouth is a practical choice.

Clean the spaces too

Use floss or appropriately sized interdental brushes every day, following your dentist's guidance. This complements brushing by reaching areas that bristles cannot clean well. After brushing, spit out excess toothpaste without immediately rinsing with water, so the remaining fluoride stays on the teeth. Use mouthwash at a different time if you use it.

Support your routine

Limit sugary drinks and snacks. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if its bristles are frayed. Manual and electric brushes can both work well when used thoroughly.

Ask your dentist which cleaning aids suit you if you have braces, restorations or difficulty handling floss. Home care supports prevention but does not replace dental examinations.
